The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to be hosting the Western Ohio Watercolor Society’s 2014 Juried Members’ Exhibition. This annual event features 60 to 70 works that employ numerous techniques and contain an array of subject matter. The Opening Reception, which takes place on Sunday, October 12th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., is a wonderful opportunity to meet many talented local artists. Awards also will be announced at 3 p.m. on October 12th. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

This year’s juror is internationally recognized artist, Vivian Ripley. Ripley is a much sought after teacher and speaker. She specializes in the mediums of pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil. The artist is one of only six Americans whose watercolor technique is spotlighted in a chapter in The Watercolor Landscape Techniques of 23 International Artists (International Artists Incorporated, 2003).

The Western Ohio Watercolor Society was founded in 1974 for the purpose of furthering interest in, and adding stature to, the use of watercolor as a fine art medium, as well as to encourage public interest in the medium.

The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is proudly supported by the citizens of the Troy City School District through a local tax levy and generous gifts to the Friends of Hayner.
