This barn is a Bank Barn constructed of wood and concrete. The home on the property was built in 1878. The original barn, which was used to store wheat and oats in the hay mow, also housed workhorses, sheep and hogs. It burned in the 1940s and the current barn was built approximately 2 months later. It was owned by Billy Meyer and David Bowman lived there. Alfred Millhouse, a neighbor, helped to get livestock out when the barn burned. No animals died.
The current owners use the barn to store hay and straw, plus they keep cattle and a horse in it. The inside of the barn is currently undergoing remodeling.
Located Northeast of Casstown. From Troy, take Rt. 55 East to Casstown. Rt. 55 takes a jog to the left (North) through Casstown, and then jogs again to the right (East). Continue East on Rt. 55 until you reach Sodom Rd., which turns to the left (North). Stay on Sodom Rd. until you come to Troy-Urbana Rd. – about 2 miles. Turn right (East) and travel for a brief time until you come to Sodom-Ballou Rd. South, turn left (North). Barn is a short distance. There is a circle drive in front of barn.
