Ambiance and flavor make this a featured dining experience.
The name “Coldwater Cafe” came from the nickname of the owner’s late father “Coldwater Joe” Peachey, who came from a small valley in Pennsylvania. In the front of the home where he was reared ran a creek and this area became known as Coldwater.
When the cafe opened in February of 1994, it was a risk that offered success or failure. Family and closest friends made the dream a reality. Some of the many changes that have developed during past years have been talented additions to our staff, delectable new entrees and most recently, the exciting move to our new location! We kept the essential pieces that brought charm to the old place and mixed those with a European flair that creates a comforting ambience our customers rave about.
Our gifted and creative chef/owner is none other than Betty’s son, Nick. His pursuit for fresh and quality ingredients, his exuberant creativity and devotion to please every culinary palate merits him rave reviews. He has added a whole new dimension to our menu. Since earning his culinary degree, Chef Nick has attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, California. Additionally, tours of wineries in the Napa Valley have inspired us to carry excellent wines for every occasion.
Let’s not forget dessert! Being awarded the 2009 Dayton Daily News’ People’s Choice Award for Best Dessert is an honor we are proud to accept. The house dessert specialty is our English Tea Cake which is a favorite of many. All of our desserts are made from scratch-from the Cherry Almond Bread Pudding, to the scrumptious fruit pies, to our decadent Chocolate Mousse Cake, everyone has their own favorite. Come in to find yours!
